A Visit to Croc City

This is an albino python.  It was friendly and soft.  We touched it.

This was a non-venomous snake--don't remember it's name.

This is a corn snake.  When they burn the maize fields, the snakes come flying out onto the road.  It's quite a sight.

They are ugly as homemade soap.  They look like floating logs in the water--but not out of water.

Wonderful friends in South Africa mission

One of the many wards at the hospital which has 3000+ beds.  A mother at the left received a quilt.

We ended up making over 200 blankets for AIDS newborns at Baragwanath Hospital.  An estimated 1000 HIV babies are born every day in this world's largest hospital.

Orange Farm Temple Trip

We had our first branch temple outing today.  April 13, 2013.  9 Sisters and 1 Elder came.

Bob bought chicken, rolls, fries and salad and brought it over to the canteen by the FH center for everyone.  I also took fruit and they really enjoyed the meal.

Five of the sisters are endowed.  The others did baptisms for the dead. Dorothy, our RS president,  in the blue was sealed to her parents and also had 3 brothers and 2 sisters sealed to them today.  She was so happy.

Anna (left front corner) was our only Young Single adult that came.  It was a wonderful day.

Tour of Cullinan Diamond Mine

Today was another holiday and we toured Cullinan Diamond mine.

Our guide's name is Lucky.  We gave him a pass along card when he asked where our church is located.

We saw replicas of uncut diamonds and learned about clarity and other things.

This is one of the huge shafts that carry the kimberlite up to the surface to be washed under pressure so the diamonds can be found.

Looking at the many types and sizes of diamonds.  80% are industrial, 20% are gems

These are the huge drums which the cables are on that lift the elevators from the inside of the mine.

Open pit that no longer has Kimberlite rock in it.  Now they are mining underground.
